Word Problem No.10 (Compound Proportion) --- Men, Cycles, and Days (Compound Proportion among three quantities)
Word Problem No.10 (Compound Proportion) --- Men, Cycles, and Days (Compound Proportion among three quantities)
Ten men can assemble 400 cycles in 8 days. How many cycles 5 men will assemble if they work for 16 days?
Solution:
As the men decrease, the less cycles will be assembled. so, It is a direct proportion.
As the number of days increase, more cycles will be assembled. It is also a direct proportion.
Let the cycles assembled be
x
then,
Here the equation will be
`\frac{x}{400}` =
`\frac{5}{10}`
x
`\frac{16}{8}`
Or
x
=
`\frac{5}{10}`
x
`\frac{16}{8}`
x 400 Cycles
by simplifying we get
x
=
400 Cycles.
Thus, the same
400 Cycles
will be assembled.
